B-day events and other stuff
This past Wenesday was my birthday, I had dinner with the family (not the funnest of activities but they try) and I went out on the weekend to celebrate; special thanks to Essy for driving us around all night. Starlight wasn't too bad (thank goodness there were no rap battles) I had fun even though some people disappeared for most of the night but oh well, I hope they were having fun too. I did see lots of cute boys at Philthy's and I wish we could've stayed longer but there was no way we were all going to get down stairs - next time though...Summer job update - I hope the job at ATS ends up working out, I really need a job plus it sounds like it would actually be related to school - I would be doing chem and physics experiments as part of my troubleshooting. Maybe then my mom will get off my back about going to live with her for the summer and working in Barrie. I'm not trying to be mean but my mom and my stepdad are just too much to handle for four whole months and the last time I went home for the summer to my mom's I was miserable the whole time, I really don't need to relive that (Nick, Im sure you remember my crazy ranting letters from that summer). In other news, I'm going to Kingston later this week to hang out with Nick, I hope his apartment doesn't flood while I'm staying there cause I think its supposed to rain all week. I am looking forward to going to Ottawa too, I haven't been there in ages so it will be nice to hang out there for a day.

Here Comes Summer
Well, I finished school today with a bang - or what felt like a bang (8:30am Calculus final on a Saturday). I won't know for a couple of weeks what my marks are but I am a little concerned, final exams were rough this term. So, today marks the first day of my summer holidays!!! and the weather is so nice that today actually feels like summer, I even got to play in a sprinkler this afternoon - good times with Jakey. In other news, the Waterloo Region Children's Museum said they would be pleased to have me as a volunteer and as soon as the new volunteer co-ordinator takes over he/she will call me to find out where I can best help out. Also this week, since I no longer have to concern myself with studying, I am going to look into coaching youth soccer for the summer, I don't think its too late to sign up for that... at least I hope not. Still on the hunt for the perfect summer job too - Vespa Street Team is looking good but I'm still waiting to hear about that one as well as a ton more (mostly boring research jobs related to my schooling). Well, I think that's it for now, my brain is a little fuzzy after pulling an all-nighter studying for calc and still not having slept yet so now I will leave to sleep. Wonderful Sleep!Wednesday, April 13, 2005
'Back to the Future' Paradox
So I was watching tbs last weekend and Back to the Future II was on. Part II has always been my favourite of the three because of the hover boards and the huge scandal surrounding them upon the original release of the movie. The Back to the Future trilogy is one of my favourite movie trilogies but as I was watching Marty McFly try to repair his future without messing up his past, I realized a significant flaw in the story. Now in the movie, if one travels through time to the past, they can alter the future by changing what happened in the past and upon their return to the present/future this new reality exists. For example, in the first Back to the Future film, Marty goes back in time and changes events and when he returns to the present his family is not a bunch of losers like they had been before his time travel adventure. In the second installment, Doc and Marty go to the future to prevent Marty's family from falling apart and while there Old Biff steals the time machine and travels to the past to visit his younger self. While in the past, Old Biff gives young Biff a sports almanac from the future so that he can become a millionaire by betting on sporting events that are listed in the almanac. Everything is fine so far, but here is the problem: when Old Biff goes back to the future, his reality hasn't changed, he returns to the same future he left and the reality doesn't change until Doc and Marty return to 1985. Now, I know that this has to happen in order for Marty and Doc to get the DeLorean back but I just don't understand how the people responsible for this cinematic piece of history could be so careless - especially since later in the same movie Doc explains to Marty that they cannot travel to the future to prevent Old Biff from going back in time because they are in the alternate 1985 so they would travel to the corresponding alternate future. I am sure that there are other flaws within the trilogy, its a tricky subject time travel and the space time continuum. I haven't watched the other two movies in a while so I will update you all if I discover any more once I have refreshed my memory with a little Michael J. Fox marathon.p.s. Good luck to all of you on your upcoming/ in progress exams.

Extraordinary Girl
What is up with my family lately, its like they are waiting for me to fail so that they can all rub it in my face when I do. Well listen up family - I AM NOT GOING TO FAIL! Do you hear that? And even if I do trip and fall, I will pick myself back up every time. I just hope that one day you will all realize what I have known all along: I am a strong person. I am an extraordinary girl!I have faith in myself, I know that I might make mistakes along the way but that is a part of life.
